If you want to know more about the friendship between Aaltje and Cornelia,
1. For how many years do you know each other?
Aaltje: Almost two years
Cornelia: One year and eight months. Feels much, much longer; and have a feeling we will be friends for a very long time.
2. Memorable giggle between you two?
Aaltje: Probably the night when we were in Paris and met ‘Robert de Niro’ in a bar. First we thought it was Johnny Depp at an older age, but then we saw his mole and realized it was Robert. But it wasn’t Robert either, it was just a weird french guy with a mole.
Cornelia: We were biking together in Amsterdam and Aaltje said: “Cornelia, we are in our roaring 20ties”. We ended up roaring out loud like lions, shaking our heads and going crazy. People looked and smiled at us.
3. Memorable fight between you two if there is one?
Aaltje: I don’t really remember that we have had a fight. Cornelia is too polite to fight!
Cornelia: I cannot recall any fight yet.
4. Best souvenir/moment spend together?
Aaltje: There was one evening when we were celebrating our ‘roaring twenties’ at her place. We realized that we (in our mid-twenties) have a lot of responsibility but we can also still have a lot of fun by using the excuse of ‘the roaring twenties’. Not settled yet, no marriage or kids but old enough for not being stupid like a teenager. But then again, we were smoking out of the window, standing on our toes to exhale the smoke outside. Like we were 16.
We were in Paris, on a school trip. Our class of six decided to go out in the Marais…to a narrow street to a cosy, little, dark bar. After a beer or so, I went outside for a Vogue cigarette (of course) and this old guy (looked like a mixture between Robert de Niro and Johnny Depp) started talking to me; he was dining at the opposite restaurant with his daughter in law or something. I invited them over to come and join our group of six girls. (Because I realised the night needed some excitement :))) And this was when all the fun started. He invited, more friends; ordered more wine and more wine and more. This Robert de Niro look-a-like could not stop looking at Aaltje; and said: “Young woman…If I were 30 years younger…I would jump you right now”…hahahaha. It was such a fun night. Talked about who knows what. All our classmates left around 23:00..but Aaltje and I decided to stay. Later that night he invited another friend over; and we had champagne at 12:00 for this friends birthday! Oh it was a joyful night, I guess these nights only happen in Paris. Needless to say we were really drunk and decided to go home around 02:00. Aaltje and I wandered back to our hotel in the rain with smudged lipstick; laughter, smoking more Vogues; talking and then finally went to bed. It was a perfect midnight in Paris.
5. What would you never do with him/her?
Aaltje: Hanging up wallpaper: she is much more precise than I am, maybe then we will have our first fight.
I will never go to Dubai with Aaltje. But neither would I.
6. Which is his/her flaw you prefer?
Aaltje: She is always extremely polite but sometimes she can be very rude, all of a sudden. For me it’s not a flaw, I think it’s kind of funny, but some people don’t know what to do with that.
Young open mind.
7. please transcript the last sms or email or facebook message he/she has send you?
Aaltje: ‘It’s fine, just send the files to me by tomorrow 22:00? Cx’
On the last Queensday she sms’d: “Ik zie het nu pas! Veel plezier en tot later”. xx (The first time ever she emailed me in Dutch…heheheh I wonder why?)
But the last last sms I received was: “Are you home?’
8. Name of a place you like to hang out together?
Aaltje: A bench near the canal or in the park, drinking a beer.
Cornelia: Joke’s (Our previous lecturer’s) studio; any bar/cafe in the Jordaan, but basically anywhere. We can sit next to a garbage dump and have fun; and loads to talk about.
